I attended the 2-day concert in person. Here're my unqualified opinions and thoughts. I had wanted to just comment on the weekly but too many thoughts. lol
TREASURE did FANTASTIC for a 2-year-old group. At this point, it’s unnecessary to even talk about their singing or rap skills. They have improved even more and can only do better. To nitpick, they need a PARTY song which will likely be inspired from their upcoming concert tour. TREASURE was inspiring, showing how hard work really pays off.
2-year-old TREASURE concerts are comparable to those of more mature groups. These boys are good. period.
I’ve seen all sorts of concerts, Coldplay, Muse, Mayday, Eason Chen, iKON, Bigbang and EXO etc. My POV also comes from someone who used to work in concerts and events.
I won’t talk much about individual members, everyone can watch the fancams and judge for themselves. To me, all of them did super well, even the so-called sub-vocalists are above average. Everyone brought something to the table.
On Day 1, the boys were too focused on coordinating well and moving to their right positions, they seemed tensed. First day jitters was verified by Jihoon who said they couldn’t think straight on the first day later on weverse. For the talk-time, they were just babbling and repeating themselves while reading from script. It was literally a waste of time and energy when they should have used it to catch their breaths. I felt the crowd energy brought down.
The rappers had to talk to buy time for the vocalists to change between in-ear and hand-held mics. The talk time dampened the hype a little. This made the 1st half of the concert felt choppy and not tight.
This improved on Day 2, leader Hyunsuk was more confident and in-charge of the crowd. They were more relaxed and could engage the crowd’s energy better to be more engaging.
Teumes, too, were more chill and less nervous on Day 2. The crowd was more hype and the boys felt it. Perhaps many fans were like me who put down our phones this time to give our full attention to the show.
Day 2 Orange fan event was done while waiting for encore. On Day 1, they seem so afraid that fans would leave before the encore and said maybe 5 times, “you know there’s more right?” On Day 2, only one reminder from Asahi.
The rock part ( VolKno & MMM-Rhythm Ta-Bang Bang Bang) is the best part. 13 minutes of adrenaline rush. 2nd best was Orange-Hold it in part. Ballads that just connect all our hearts. 3rd was the encore stage where it was hard to follow 10 puppies running around all over the stage for me who doesn't have a strong bias.
Day 2 had extra encore songs. More TREASURE is always better. Haruto and Hyunsuk told Teumes to put down our phones and just enjoy. The girls next to me actually did as instructed. Lol. But many didn’t and Haruto had to keep saying. I hope he swears next time, “put down your goddamn phones!”
On Day 1, during Orange, when I first saw them lifted up with the beautiful huge logo fixture hanging above them, I felt so afraid that I actually got quite angry. So dangerous! But it is also quite common in all kinds of concerts. That mise en scene is so very beautiful though. I also imagine the boys could see the audience clearer when lifted to a higher level without the glaring lights. sob
Asahi must be so touched that his song Orange is The Song. Teumes were scrambling to find the lyrics to sing it properly, and had to laugh at ourselves when we tried to do the rap part in unison.
My biased and unqualified ears say that the highest decibel for the 2 days was when Bang Bang Bang intro came out on Day 1. Actually I overhead Chinese fans in the merch line say the same. “oh my heavens. I was so high when the first notes of it came out!” I know Teumes are surprised hence the wow factor, but watching it made me think TREASURE need their own THAT HYPE SONG.
Their Bang3 is really the best I’ve seen. I dare say 10-people energy is unbeatable, even better than the original and iKON. I’m glad there’s someone to continue to breathe life into this song, because I doubt we will hear Bigbang ever singing it anytime soon.
I’m sure TREASURE will be inspired and come up with their own hype song very soon once they start performing in front of a live audience.
Lighting Director Madam / Sir, you deserve only happiness in your life. Minimum stage props which helps in tour logistics. But this was massively compensated by lights, LOTS of LIGHTS and pyrotechnics. How many spots were there? Omg.
Again, they all did so so well.
When the first intro video came on with the motorcycle concept, I 😆 "c'mon the boys can't do that, unauthentic" I thought. I get that it is just a metaphor.
The backing track was not loud. Day 2 Jikjin during encore sounded like the music show encore stage we didn't get to see. I'm not sure if it's just the live band playing.
Jaehyuk and Jeongwoo said something like because they had to prepare for the concert and promote Hello at the same time, it was not easy and they didn’t have enough time to practice. ( when Jaehyuk said this, I’m reminded of Reddit comments wanting YG acts to do more concerts and fanmeets. Like Hello!?!!, every YG group is already busy working on something this year, people are still living in 2021. 😡)
I miss Mashidam more in songs where they performed less in festivals as 10. Brainwashing is a thing. sigh.
I know everyone is talking about Haruto. But I can’t help but notice Jaehyuk this time. He was exceptionally focused, thus looked very charismatic when he's not doing the aegyo stuff. He improved a lot. He’s good.
The concert really got going from Asahi’s Thank You. I guess because it’s the first song which isn’t as staged or a choreographed dance like the earlier sets. Asahi and Haruto were engaging the audience more rather than performing like in music shows.
The flow of the show felt a little choppy for the first half. The crowd enjoyed the encore stage most because TREASURE is not constrained by choreography. Maybe I’m not used to a YG performance-focus concert. The thing that makes YG concerts so dynamic and interactive is they are not limited by a choreo. Team TREASURE needs to find a way to make the performance songs less like they are for the music shows.
Is there a company that has idols more proud of their company than Hyunsuk. It’s crazy to think how this boy wears it like a badge of honour. I’m sure he knows how much YG is hated.
It's rare to see a male fan. Maybe 1-3%.
Concerts are not music shows. I’m not too bothered about clothes that much. I mean Taeyang and Bobby often go shirtless. The best moments were during the encore when they wore just tshirts and hoodies.
There was a small thought that ran in my head that Teumes may not like to hear. I feel the boys are imitating their seniors which I can attribute to them being a young group. You know it’s like how when you start something new, you are just replicating what your role models too. But with skills and experience, you create your own unique style. Bigbang debuted replicating the styles of American R&B hiphop groups, but eventually developed their own unique style. It’s all part of the process.
The concert T-shirts sold out real quick. I went to the venue early in the morning one hour before the MD store open, there was already a long queue. The shirts were sold out by the time it was my turn. Can I suggest to have a bundle option for t-shirt with ticket.
A K-Teume Youtuber said she bought the Hello albums on site for the PC, but was told the PCs will be mailed to her in 2 weeks. I guess there’re quite a lot of leftover album stock. 🙁
I know PC trading is huge but I didn’t know it is SO HUGE. Trading was going on there.
It’s probably inappropriate to say this, but the fans will be clamouring for the 3 maknaes (even more) once they turn adult legally. I overheard comments on the long way out after the concert about all the members, but especially the maknaes, and someone said “what? He’s 4 years younger than me. he’s underaged?!? Unbelievable”. Guess which one this comment is for.
